The increasing international membership of the Association of Electrical and Mechanical Trades (AEMT) is reflected in the newest members, from Europe, South East Asia and from the Gulf; as well as new associate members.

Coming from as far afield as Indonesia, Malaysia, Poland and Portugal, the new members join about 285 member companies, with nearly one-third of them headquartered overseas.

Thomas Marks of the AEMT says, “More and more, we are arranging international training and events to reflect the increasingly global nature of the technology industries. These tend to generate applications for membership, while other overseas companies hear about us through the media or third-party references.”

Membership of the AEMT has many benefits including providing an input into developing new industry and technical standards, legislation and best practice documents, data and intelligence gathering and analysis, communications within the industry, to academia and lobbying of governments, and easy participation in national and international events.

“Creating networking and learning opportunities is a vital part of the work of the AEMT and other trade associations. It is impossible to accurately quantify their value, but they offer unrivalled chances to build relationships, win business and create alliances.

“Our international members are benefitting greatly from the networking opportunities as well as the training courses we provide and the technical support freely available to them.”

About the AEMT

The Association of Electrical and Mechanical Trades (AEMT) was founded in 1945. It is an International Association representing leading companies in the electrical and mechanical service and repair industry. Members manufacture, distribute, install, service, maintain, and repair, electric motors, drives, pumps, fans, gearboxes, generators, transformers, switchgear, and ancillary equipment. In addition to motor and pump service facilities, most members operate mechanical engineering workshops for metal fabrication and the repair and refurbishment of worn components. Others include panel building facilities and some carry out repairs to industrial electronic equipment. Associate Members are companies that supply products and services to Members.

Proceeding the publication of AEMT's and BEAMA's jointly produced first code of practice for The Repair and Overhaul of Electrical Equipment for use in Potentially Explosive Atmospheres, which was adopted as the initial IEC 60079-19 international standard. The association has put together a selection of Training modules covering the Theory and Practical nature to ATEX and IECEx equipment repair. The modules are delivered as accredited training courses by expert teams across the globe.
