BURKERT’S MODULAR RANGE OF INTELLIGENT LEVEL SENSORS CAN BE EASILY ADAPTED TO THE MOST DEMANDING PROCESS TASKS.

Single concept, many variants means maximum flexibility for users

Burkert is introducing a new range of intelligent level sensors with a modular structure and IP67 protection, making it easy to adapt the sensors to the widest range of requirements in demanding water treatment, pharmaceutical, food and other hygiene-based industries. The new range is a single concept with many variants; it enables several different measuring technologies to be integrated into one type of housing, including: Tuning fork for ON/OFF monitoring or overfill protection; Ultrasound for continuous measurement, using a 2-wire circuit, Guided microwave and Radar.

The launch of the new sensors is the latest stage in Burkert’s strategy of providing system solutions using intelligent process valves and sensors. The combination of these elements creates systematically optimised control loops, which deploy state-of-the art technology, not only for filling level and flow control, but also for analysis tasks. The communication technique employed is centred on sensors integrating with intelligent valve control heads. This enables implementation of low-cost local control loops, which can communicate with supervisory systems such as PLCs and DCS systems via standard interfaces.

The level sensors can be easily integrated into almost any system configuration due to their wide range of connection options, including a 4–20 mA 2-wire circuit; optional interface for Profibus PA or FOUNDATION Fieldbus; Hart protocol; and limit detection via contactless output, transistor or NAMUR signal.

The sensors are all designed using FDA approved materials; they hold Ex “ia” ATEX approvals, and comply with EHEDG regulations, as required in hygienic areas, and regulations on the use of materials resistant to cleaning fluids.
