At the end of September 2007 Edbro welcomed David Nesbitt as the new Managing Director, coming to the Bolton-based manufacturer with years of engineering industry experience.

Starting out with an apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering, David comes to Edbro with a successful career in the field of braking systems. As Manufacturing Director with AP Lockheed he promoted practices of quality engineering and spearheaded changes to the company’s manufacturing approach to make the whole process more streamlined and efficient.

Following the start-up of a new Greenfield site to a fully working plant, David moved into a position of Managing Director for the AP Brake business and then Chief Executive of the AP Group a few years later, continuing to oversee braking operations when eventually the business was bought out by the Caparo Group.

Now, some years later, David explains some of his reasons for coming to Edbro:

“Edbro has a very strong brand and the great pedigree of British manufacturing which is increasingly hard to find these days. At the same time though, an impressively large proportion of business comes from export sales around the world. Edbro is a company with a lot of potential for growth and development and I hope to lead the way in improving the future prospects for this respected organisation. Key to this success will be the ongoing development of our technology, coupled with a real focus upon serving the customer. I believe passionately in British manufacturing and am keen to participate in the development of Edbro.”
