Over 100 years of innovations in transport were be celebrated earlier this year at Manchester’s MOSI (Museum of Science & Industry) in the 2009 MOSI Transport Festival.

Road transport was the theme of the first weekend, and with Edbro’s prestigious history at the forefront on tipping hoist design for commercial vehicles, it was natural that MOSI would ask for Edbro’s support and cooperation.

One of Edbro’s founding fathers, Maurice Edwards, invented the first hydraulic powered tipping hoist in 1916 and the Bolton-based manufacturer, now a global leader in the tipping world, has not looked back since that day.

Two successful North-West based Edbro customers were happy to donate a truck for display during the event. I J Webb & Sons of Wigan offered up to the museum a brand new Volvo 8x4 chassis with Edbro underbody twin ram TS Series cylinders. J O’Shea of Manchester displayed an MAN chassis fitted with the UK leading CX15 front end combined ram & tank product, the lightest in its class at 165kg lighter than some other products on the market. Both vehicles were on display during the event to showcase the development of Edbro product since the original innovation.

And now with the New C Series range of cylinders launching from Edbro, the engineering boundaries of tipping are pushed event further by the original hoist innovator.
