WIRELESS WALL- MOUNTED CALL BUTTON OFFERS CABLELESS CONVENIENCE IN HOSPITALS, CLINICS & NURSING HOMES.
IDC has added the wireless- based ZB112 call button to its ZigBeeTM range of interactive paging and call systems products, for use in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and disabled facilities. The ZB112 is programmable and battery powered, removing the requirement for external power supplies or control cables. The device has extremely low power consumption, enabling it to operate for years without the need to replace batteries in most applications.
The ZB112 is designed for use in hospital wards, toilets, bathrooms and rest facilities – in fact anywhere where there is requirement for patients to call for assistance quickly. Robustly constructed, it can be sited at any convenient location, as it requires no external cabling. The device integrates a single large button - with the facility for customisation by the addition of further buttons, if required. The button has a tactile feel for ease of operation and offers the benefit of backlighting when depressed.
In common with other devices in IDC’s paging, calling and tracking range, the ZB112 is programmable and connects to other ZigBee wireless devices such as the ZB110 nurse call button, for mobile alerts; or to a central server, using a ZB104/3 Gateway and IDC software, for complete, system- wide health care facility applications.
The ZB112 is one of a wide range of ZigBee wireless mesh products developed by IDC for medical applications. Providing true system- on- a- chip solutions, with the benefits of built-in positional engines, small size and extremely low power consumption, the ZigBee products provide a simple cable-less network for interactive paging, tracking of patients and assets, barcoding of assets, nurse station call and alarm systems, security tagging, temperature monitoring of critical healthcare assets, and emergency roll calls.
IDC’s Zigbee wireless products bring greater efficiency, accountability and monitoring to any healthcare environment- hospital, clinic and surgery - providing end-to-end visibility of operations at relatively low cost. They cater for applications across a broad range from single sites to multi-site locations employing enterprise- wide client/ server architectures. The technology offers bi-directional message routing between remote access points and centralised IT facilities; and it is designed to operate in electrically noisy industrial environments using low cost, low power, robust networks.
IDC supports its ZigBee medical range with complementary software applications, including “over- the- air” programming, data logging and remote control, in addition to positional tracking. IDC also offers the ability to design bespoke hardware and software solutions based on existing site architectures. Importantly for users of the ZigBee range, IDC are is not reliant on third- party software providers; hardware, application firmware, PC- based software and server applications are all designed in-house by IDC software engineers at the company’s headquarters in Derby.
