Inmoco has launched its most compact, high power, PCB-mounted DC servo drive yet. Measuring just 110 x 75 x 30 mm, the new Trombone from the ELMO SimplIQ Line of servo drives, belies its size by operating directly from a mains power source, of up to 400 VDC or 750 VDC, and delivering up to 7 kW of continuous qualitative power.
The SimplIQ Trombone is ideal for integration into any motion system, either single- or multi-axis, providing a high performance motion control unit for use with sinusoidal, trapezoidal and DC motors. Despite its ultra-compact footprint, the Trombone is feature-rich, offering the highest power density, and integrating vector control sinusoidal commutation, advanced filtering and velocity gain scheduling for enhanced dynamic performance. These features, plus programming flexibility, CANopen networking and the widest range of feedback options, make the Trombone the ideal OEM servo drive: the optimum unit to reduce the size and weight, and the overall installed envelope of servo systems.
At the heart of the Trombone is Elmo’s SimplIQ technology. Combining advanced motion control with real-time networking capabilities, and delivering a wealth of feedback and I/O options and programming capabilities, SimplIQ enables the Trombone to bring increased precision to a wide range of automated applications, including robotics, machine tools, packaging, semiconductor production, materials handling, sorting, printing, textiles and many, many more.
Integrating the Trombone into automated applications is accomplished quickly and easily using Elmo’s third-generation Composer software. A universal programming language, Composer provides flexible and intuitive programming and smooth operation for single or multi-axis set-ups, manual and automatic tuning of current, velocity and position loops, a motion monitor and scope for testing, network monitoring and debugging tools, and also facilitates communication via serial RS-232 and CANopen.
The Trombone operates with two DC bus options: 80 – 400 VDC and 200 – 750 VDC, with a built-in smart supply for controlling back-up capabilities: it can also operate with a 24 VDC auxiliary power supply for back-up features. The servo drive also offers the widest range of feedback options: encoders, resolvers, tachometers and potentiometers, for easy integration into any motion system.
