Prague, 10 May 2007. Mitsubishi Electric has consolidated its investment in the Czech Republic - and in the Central European region generally - with the opening of a new Factory Automation Centre in Prague, on May 11th 2007. The facility was declared officially open by Mr. Yukio Murata, General Manager Factory Automation Overseas Division, in the presence of Mr. Hideaki Kumazawa – Japanese Ambassador, and 100 invited guests, including local distribution partners, AutoCont and B:Tech, customers from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland.
The Prague FA centre is Mitsubishi Electric’s first in Central Eastern Europe with a satellite in Poland and underlines the company’s continuing commitment to support economic growth in the region. It joins other European FA centres, in the UK and Germany, as part of Mitsubishi Electric’s strategic plan of being closer to its markets, providing the highest level of application support, training and repair facilities. The total investment for staff and infrastructure amounts to €1.65 million.
“The Czech Republic is developing rapidly from a low wage to a high tech economy; this is evidenced by the growth in automation in the region, which expected to average 5% to 6% though till 2009,“ said Thomas Droth, Mitsubishi Electric’s Sales Manager for Central Eastern Europe. “Automation has a strategic role to play in driving this development; helping the Czech economy and the economies of Central Europe, generally, to achieve and maintain a ’competitive advantage’ in the demanding global economy.“

They enable the automation and integration of all levels within a manufacturing enterprise, helping to reduce the costs of manufactured goods, and the time to market of new products.“
Located close to the heart of industry, on the Avenir Business Park in Prague, the new FA centre extends to 300m2 and includes a showroom, training room, administrative offices and repair facilities. It will house up to twelve employees providing a hub for automation projects across the Central Eastern European region.
One of the key roles of the new FA centre is training; a fully equipped training room houses both dynamic and static displays providing in-depth training for groups of up to 12 people. Importantly, the training regime is flexible to meet individual company needs. It is supported by dynamic displays featuring robots, servos and AC drives (inverters), and also static product displays and graphics outlining the types - and the advantages – of networked factory automation systems.
