Mitsubishi Electric and SAP Research have formalised their existing working relationship, with Mitsubishi Electric becoming a core partner of the Future Factory Initiative of SAP Research Dresden. Two great industry names have come together to develop ideas and collaborate on innovative automation projects under the umbrella of this forward thinking initiative.
Managed by SAP Research Dresden, Germany, the Future Factory Initiative was set up as a joint effort between SAP Research and partner organisations to foster research and development. Its aim was to provide a working environment where new manufacturing concepts could be tested, validated, and demonstrated, providing manufacturers with the competitive edge they need in today’s global markets.
As a core partner within the Future Factory Initiative, Mitsubishi Electric will be working closely with SAP Research and with other core partners to develop innovative ideas and solutions to meet the needs of the 21st Century manufacturing environment. Commenting on the collaboration, Mitsubishi Electric Europe Marketing Manager Chris Hazlewood says: “SAP Research’s work in providing this dynamic development environment is a great benefit to manufacturers. Mitsubishi Electric are proud to be part of this innovation, and excited to be able to share our automation expertise and first hand knowledge of manufacturing with SAP and the Future Factory team.”
Projects of the Future Factory address topics such as real-world integration, innovative user interfaces, and mobile applications in a manufacturing context.
Mitsubishi Electric and SAP Research have immediately started on key projects, and are already collaborating on developing research prototypes to issue such as shop floor data integration and energy management.
