Finding the right electrical enclosure can mean the difference between profit and loss for your project. A large order of over-specified enclosures can erode margins, while a poorly specified solution can lead to long-term performance problems, which can trigger warranty claims – or worse. This is why www.enclosureanswers.com has been set up, to allow consumers to approach industry experts with technical questions about all aspect of enclosure specification and installation.

The free-to-use website has been launched by the UK’s largest ex-stock supplier of non-metallic electrical enclosures, Spelsberg UK. Spelsberg is well regarded for offering high-quality, standard and customised solutions with low lead times on all orders. It has launched the service in response to the increasing number of technical questions its customers are asking.

Chris Lloyd, Managing Director, explains: “Over the last decade we’ve found that an increasing number of customers are relying on us for expert advice and engineered services. This is partly due to a more savvy buying culture that has emerged since the recession, but is also a result of the ever increasing range of possibilities and options emerging from manufacturers such as ourselves.

“Enclosure Answers is a free service for the industry, whether the site visitors buy from Spelsberg or not. It’s a forum where electricians, design engineers, stockists and suppliers can ask the technical questions they need an answer to before committing to a large order. Once you’ve submitted your question one of our product experts will give you a detailed answer.”

The site already includes a wealth of technical information regarding the UV deterioration characteristics of different materials; the relevance of different international approvals based on industry; suitable installation methods for outdoor applications; and the best ways of combatting condensation in an enclosure. The site is free to browse with question visible to all visitors. To post a question you simply have to sign-up to the forum.

Chris concludes: “The service is free and the answers come with no obligation to buy from us. We want to promote discussion within the industry so that consumers are able to get a better understanding of how varied enclosure performance can be – even when boxes may look the same.”
