Tsubaki Europe has produced a new brochure highlighting the BR-HT series of backstop cam clutches for high-speed overrunning applications. The brochure describes the many advantages of the BR-HT series for preventing reverse rotation in applications such as inclined conveyors or bucket elevators. The BR-HT assures immediate backstop, reduces costs, and employs a ‘lift off’ design that extends service life.
The BR-HT cam clutch is the high torque version of the existing BR series, providing backstop for the inner race in high-speed overrunning applications. Installation of the cam clutch on the high-speed shaft means that a far more compact clutch can be selected, reducing costs. The ‘lift off’ design is built around a unique cross section that provides positive mechanical engagement only when needed, greatly increasing service life compared to conventional types.
When the cam clutch is stationary, the cam locks the inner and outer races together. When the inner race overruns at high speed, the cam disengages by releasing from the inner race. When the inner race stops, the cam rotates back into the engaged position. If the inner race tries to rotate in the reverse direction, the cams then serve as prop between the anchored outer race and inner race to prevent the reverse rotation and provide backstopping.
As well as highlighting the functional benefits, the brochure also provides simple product selection guidance, including formulae for calculating the torque on the cam clutch. A selection chart then enables the correct product to be selected. Finally, the brochure offers full guidance on installation and use of the BR-HT series, and advice on periodic maintenance and lubrication.
The new brochure is available in print upon request or can be downloaded from the Tsubaki website: http://tsubaki.eu
