WEG manufactures one of the largest ranges of ATEX compliant Low Voltage (LV), Medium Voltage (MV) and High Voltage (HV) motors for use in hazardous area applications, both on and offshore. These products also comply fully with the most demanding requirements at global level. LV Range Offers Ultimate Flexibility In Both Specification and Cost.
The classifications included in WEG’s LV range: EEx nA, (non sparking) EEx e (increased safety), EEx d/EEx de (explosion proof) and Dust Ignition Proof, offer the user and OEM the ultimate flexibility in both application specification and cost. Complementing this flexibility is the wide range of frame sizes available, from 63 to 500; a nominal power range up to 1250kW; the facility for 2, 4, 6 and 8 pole motor configurations, and most importantly, availability of premium efficiency (EFF1) alternatives to standard efficiency (EFF2) for all designs except EExe.
HV & MV Motors For Hazardous, Technically Challenging Applications.
WEG is also a primary front line supplier of explosion proof medium and high voltage motors for hazardous area applications. The “M”, “H” and “BFG/BFGC” line motors deliver outstanding performance, reliability and safety in the most arduous operating environments worldwide. They combine a wide operating range, up to 20MW, and all hazardous area classifications in accordance with the latest ATEX directives.
Designed for larger applications in the output range up to 20MW, the M-Line range utilises a box frame construction that is ideally suited to EEx.p and pre-start purged EEx.nA applications for zone 1 and zone 2 areas having low leakage rates. The internal dispersement pipes within the box frame ensure an efficient and quick purge cycle thus keeping the cost of providing purging air/ inert gas to a minimum and, more importantly, providing quick start up times for operators.
For smaller applications, WEG’s “H”-Line range offers robustness of construction and is available in safe area, EEx nA and EEx e designs. The “H” Line motors cater for medium voltage applications in the range up to 3.15MW and voltages up to 6,600V (50 or 60Hz). Manufactured in IEC frame sizes from 315 to 630, they are compact and extremely reliable machines with sturdy cast-iron frames and high levels of resistance to corrosion.

Manufactured in IEC frame sizes from 315 to 450, they too are compact and extremely reliable machines with sturdy cast-iron frames and high levels of resistance to corrosion.
