Brevini has combined the high efficiency, low weight, high reduction ratios of its planetary gear stages with the higher capacity, strength and durability of bevel helical gears to develop the unique Posiplan range of hybrid gearboxes. The result offers users the best of both worlds by delivering high capacity from smaller units which reduces the necessary size of the unit for each application.
The company, which has many years experience with both planetary and helical gearboxes, created the Posiplan range in response to the reluctance of some engineers to use planetary gearboxes due to the shaft not being engaged all the way through the gearbox; the Posiplan’s helical final stage reduction nullifies this concern.
A modular cast casing design and a broad range of mounting options have reduced manufacturing times and design costs, whilst maintenance engineers and plant managers using the gearboxes in replacement situations will appreciate the use of labyrinth sealing technology and high performance bearings, guaranteeing an extended operating life in the harshest of environments.
Using these gearboxes in a shaft-mounted configuration offers the flexibility of fitment in any orientation and can be used to replace high wearing / high maintenance exposed transmission alternatives such as belts, chains and pulleys. Costs can also be reduced over worm/wheel transmissions due to higher efficiency operation, requiring a smaller motor to drive it as well as the actual units themselves being lower in weight and extremely price competitive.
